Frequently Asked Questions

What is a policy excess?

A policy excess is the amount you are responsible to pay towards making a claim. This amount will depend on your level of cover and the section of the policy you’re claiming under.

For example, if you have a Coverwise Gold policy and make a valid claim of £500 for a trip cancellation, the excess for the cancellation section is £100 so you would receive £400 after the excess deduction.

Excess amounts for all of our levels of cover and policy sections are displayed for your review and comparison during the quotation process.

If you’ve already purchased insurance, the excess amounts for each section of your policy are listed in your policy wording.

Please note that policy excesses are applied per incident claimed for, per section claimed under and per insured person.
