Flight cancellations in Spain expected due to general strike

The Spanish unions have announced a general strike for Thursday 29th of March to protest against the measures of the new Spanish Government. The strike may affect public transport within Spain as well as international flights and services at Spanish airports.

“The exact proportion of the general strike remains unknown” commented the Spanish Tourist Office, but it is probable that public transport will be affected. However, a skeleton service such as the ferries to the Islands for example should be maintained. According to the Spanish media it is expected that up to 80 percent of the flights will be cancelled at most airports. Therefore it is highly recommended that travellers to Spain should contact their airline or tour operator before travelling.
