A 5 day strike at Iberia starts today, ending on Friday 22nd February, as twenty thousand employees of the Spanish airline protest against the corporate restructuring plan.

Despite the strike, Iberia is currently guaranteeing minimum service levels of 90% of long-haul flights, 61% of short-haul flights and 46% of domestic flights.

Two earthquakes, measuring 6.4 and 6.3 on the Richter scale, hit the western Azerbaijan province on 11th August causing significant damage. The epicentres of these quakes were 60 km and 49 km from Tabiz city.

Typhoon Vicente hit East China and Hong Kong during the night of Tuesday 24th bringing winds of more than 140 km/h and heavy downpours.


According to local medical authorities, 120 people were injured and 15 hospitalised. The typhoon caused the closure of the Hong Kong stock exchange for the morning and reopened in the afternoon.

Due to a failure of the radar system at German air traffic control no aircraft were able to take off at Munich Airport last Friday 06 July. Landings were only allowed occasionally. Over one hundred of flights had to be cancelled and many flights were considerably delayed. The system failure was also responsible for a cancellation of a scheduled meeting of German and French Ministers on Friday. Travelers were advised to stay informed via the website of the airport.
